STOTT PILATES® Injuries and Special Populations

Building on the base of your STOTT PILATES® training is a great way to expand your repertoire and open up options for serving a diverse client base.

The STOTT PILATES Injuries and Special Populations Course (ISP) is an essential component of, and is required for, STOTT PILATES Full Certification, but it's also an excellent way for fitness and movement professionals working in other modalities to enhance their respective knowledge bases and grow their practices.

ISP equips participants with the skills required to address a broad range of physical challenges that they may encounter with various clients. Conducted over 4 days, ISP teaches how to customize workouts to address weaknesses, health conditions, postural problems or injuries. While ISP does teach how to adjust workouts to accommodate injuries, the course is NOT a preparation for students to diagnose or treat specific injuries or conditions, nor to prescribe exercises for these populations.

What you will learn:
✔ The Pilates Instructor's role in the rehabilitative process and how to begin a Pilates program to safely and appropriately work with special populations
✔ Approaches to rehabilitating an injured musculoskeletal system
✔ Review the most common injuries and special populations that may be encountered
✔ Anatomy and biomechanics, dysfunctions and pathologies, and exercise modifications in the: lumbo-pelvic, cervical, upper quadrant, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, ankle and foot regions
✔ Pregnancy, fibromyalgia and other special conditions plus workout design
✔ Appropriate modification and practice programming of Matwork, Reformer, Cadillac, Stability Chair and Ladder Barrel exercises

Instructors and professionals who complete ISP can continue building on their knowledge base with post-rehab workshops
